Education in safe community study spaces: For the full education cycle to be experienced there are many parameters that contribute to this success. A child can attend a well-equipped school but the environment they study and do their homework back home after school or during the school holidays is of utmost importance.

The environment to study ought to be safe, peaceful, quiet and free from interruptions. In most informal settlements like slums and marginalized communities in most of rural Africa safe adequate space to study and concentrate is vaguely accessible. This is mostly due to the congestion found in households where for example in the slums a one-roomed house accommodates an average of 6 - 7 family members. This one room is where the parents and children sleep, cook, sit and even do their homework. Children hence really suffer when they are studying due to constant interruptions, which affect their concentration and overall performance in school.

To address this need and through our "LIBU MTAANI PROJECT" which means "community libraries" in Swahili we are establishing safe community library spaces for young people aged between 7 and 18 years in both the slums and rural areas. In addition to having books, the community libraries are being fitted with computers for digital and practical learning to encourage technology and innovation community solution hubs.
